Paid by the greedy immoral US corporations, the US presidential candidates both refused to even talk about Climate

Climate Criminals with footprints of 100s of tons of CO2 a year are moving their millions to tax havens as runaway climate chaos takes hold.

Change, even though it could easily make the planet uninhabitable for humans.

The US public has been willingly convinced by a massive Lie Campaign that Climate Change does not exist.

All the more fitting and ironic then, that  monster Hurricane Sandy should erupt into the end of the farcical Election Campaign. Hopefully the victims and relatives of the dead will point the finger at the Climate Criminals.

Residents along the East Coast are bracing for a storm that has prompted evacuations and shut down transit systems, schools and businesses. The map above shows the evolution of Hurricane Sandy’s past and predicted path. Click the map for more.

Last month, Mike Tidwell, director of Maryland’s Chesapeake Climate Action Network and the author of the 2006 book The Ravaging Tide — which detailed the expected rise in extreme weather events that will come with global warming — received a pamphlet in the mail from his insurance company,

Travelers. The full-color flier depicted a typical suburban home with a lashing storm looming on the horizon.

Federal disaster declarations are up, the pamphlet declared. Average winter storm losses have doubled since the 1980s. Thunderstorms last year caused over $25 billion in damages, more than double the previous record…. Continue reading

Runnymede Eco-Village

Runnymede Eco-Village is situated in the disused woodland of the ex-Brunel university Runnymede Campus owned by the private property developer: Orchid Runnymede.

We: a group of 15 people, have been living on the Runnymede Campus since June 15th.  The 65 acre campus lies in the Green Belt (although it is designated as a major development site) but since 2007 has lain largely unused.

Orchid Runnymede has been granted planning permission to build ‘luxury homes’, elderly care units and student accommodation on the site.  This plan has attracted concern and criticism from local residents (see this local news article from last year) Continue reading

In #globalrevolution, Sol on 26 October 2012 at 19:24

Maxie & Macker

-’You’re the magic boy I found on my doorstep..’-

Macker narrating

I was listening to falling water, golden and gurgling, then changing slowly into real happy baby sounds, waking me slowly from my groggy dream.
Now suddenly I was wide awake. Finding myself clean and bandaged, lying naked under a clean sheet, with an orange light glowing through it. I pulled back the sheet, blinking into the low bright sun. Was it morning or evening?
-‘Ma ma pa tu me?’- came a baby voice.
-‘Oh! Hello. I can see you.’- Continue reading

Food Mythbusters: Do we need industrial agriculture to feed the world?

from Grist with thanks

Are you tired of hearing claims that chemical-intensive monocultures are the only way to feed the planet’s growing population? With the first in her series of “mythbusting” videos, Anna Lappé, author of Diet for a Hot Planet and occasional Grist contributor, takes on this point directly.

She argues that, in fact, a network of small-scale, independent farms using diversified, sustainable practices and a shift in the way the food we already grow gets eaten will go a long way toward solving the problem without such a heavy reliance on corporate agriculture.

Take a look and tell us what you think.

Final Update Oct 30th.  the General Strike call for tomorrow will go ahead as a ‘Day Of Struggle’ with direct actions in Catalunya, plus pickets, a partial transport strike, and a demo in the evening. This is an alternative and building resistance. It’s also been backed by the CNT anarcho syndicalist union, (which is quite small as it refuses to cooperate with the State.) Of course these anarchist unions also support the Nov 14th South Europe General Strike!

Update Oct 24th.. Finally the ‘majority’ Unions have called a General Strike for Nov 14th. But the CGT are going ahead with theirs anyway.. let’s see if it works!!

(summary translated by The Free). The big sold out Unions have so far failed to back the Anarchist call but are pressured to do so. All the Unions missed the chance to strike on Sept 26th with Euskadi and Greece and link with…
