7,000 people converge on the Saints in the third day of protests against the eviction of Can Vies, the police State, and capitalist misery.
Blue lights , police , reflected on the wet asphalt Street of Sants, a big working class barrio of trendy Barcelona. . Endless lines of Catalan police vans rushing up and down.. dispersing the thousands of demonstrators who immediately reappeared… a neighbour blasting protest songs from a balcony.. for the third consecutive day , this neighborhood has burned following the eviction of Can Vies, decreed by the government of Xavier Trias, of an assembly-run Social Center occupied for 17 years. ..
(Can Vies was a local self-run Occupied Social Center, going for 17 yrs in an ex union building, with wide neighbourhood support. The Coumcil ordered an eviction for a ‘green space’ to crush an organisation outside its idea of a sanitised, top down, rich only, capitalist paradise. They were warned many times that evicting Can Vies would be the start of urbaan warfare, with 70% youth unemployment. Yet the arrogant idiots went ahead and lit that fuse…..)
This was the scene on Wednesday, day 3, in the Sants. The Can Vies eviction/demolition is the trigger for a wave of solidarity that has been extended from Wednesday Saint around Barcelona and 41 other cities and barrios where demonstrations were held .
Many of these have come together in the square Sants, where 7000 assembled and have gone to the district headquarters until the police charged against a group of young that rioters at the head , but also against all the other peaceful demonstrators. It was the start of clashes that one more night , left burning barricades in the whole neighborhood . 
And they caused several injuries , including a person injured in the eye by a projectile launched by the Mossos d’ Esquadra (Catalan Police) . The victim has lost vision. The riot cops tried to disperse the protesters using these new foam projectiles.
Support from many barrios and cities
It was about eight o’clock that people have started to gather at Plaza de Sants while police closed the Metro stops of Plaza de Sants, Hostafrancs and part of the main Sants station . At the same time , in several districts of the city of Barcelona and several metropolitan area different columns had formed , which later reached the center of the Saints to join the rest of the demonstration.
First, however , almost 3,000 people already filled square and the Sants, despite the cold rain, mand at half past nine in the evening began the pot banging session , continuing on and off while the columns were arriving . One of the first to arrive was from the barrio of Sarria -Sant Gervasi , 50 young people from the Youth Assembly district Joan Güell came down the street with a banner in support of Can Vies . Various more columns arrived after incidents.. in Horta – Guinardo barrio for example has a van of Transport Barcelona was burned… in Poble Sec and St. Andreu -200 people cut three lanes of Gran Via and Meridiana highways respectively , overturning some containers .
Meanwhile also formed columns in Corts and in Gràcia barrioi where gathered between 1,500 and 2,000 people and paint was thrown on the Council headquarters of the district , also in Eixample , New barrios , the Old City , San Antonio, Raval and Poble Nou etc , where paint was also thrown.
When all the columns had finally gathered there were 7,000 in Sants Square. At half past ten the demonstration the demo set off at last in the rain down the street to the Sants district Council headquarters . Before arriving , the protesters met with a strong police presence that allowed it to go no further .
Police have warned that the rally by megaphone that it was not authorized to move in the direction the district Council. A few minutes later , after ten in the evening , police warned that they would proceed to dissolve the demonstration. Several people overturned some rubbish containers .
Then the police set off their new directional Sound Cannons and after releasing two smoke canisters ,started charging not only against those who were causing riots at the head of the march , but against all the citizens involved.
The demonstration was called off and the clashes and running battles between protesters and police began.
28 people arrested in clashes
La Directa (the radical newspaper) has been able to confirm that a person has suffered the impact of a projectile in the eye ball. The projectile has been fired by the Catalan police near the Huesca Square , the victim says . During the early hours (thurs) he was receiving hospital care . The protester , however, has fortunately not lost the eyeball and should revover sight. This is arguably the most serious injury that occurred in the clshes in Sants and Badal until one in the morning , which ended with at least 28 detainees, many reporeted to be random , in addition to the two on Monday and six on Tuesday .
Scenes like Tuesday’s then repeated , with disturbances spreading to different parts of the district , such as the square or street Olzinelles Huesca . On Wednesday , however, things remained calm at the Can Vies ruins .
At about eleven at night , the riots were concentrated near Cotxeres, where they burned several containers . One of them threatened to set fire to the adjacent iconic palm tree, and protesters avoided the danger by soaking the plant. A while later the epicenter switched to Badal where plainclothes policemen were seen on bikes without registration arresting people on the Brasil Boulevard.
Neighbours Rebuke Police, support Protestors
During the protests scenes like onTuesday have been repeated with neighbours yelling and rebuking the police police and banging pots in solidarity with protesters from their balconies . One of these neighbors even rebuked the firefighters who came to put out burning containers past midnight in the main Sants Street. Dozens of hooded youths from the sidewalk , responded clapping and shouting ‘ Long live fire ! ‘ Until riot cops has appeared in a van and drove away. .
Shortly after , having fired the last rounds to disperse the remaining groups, the police withdrew .

7.000 persones conflueixen a Sants en el tercer dia de protestes pel desallotjament de Can Vies
Llums blaves, policíaques, reflectides en l’asfalt mullat del carrer de Sants. Corredisses i furgones de Mossos amunt i avall. I entre les sirenes i els trets de les salves, Lluís Llach. ‘L’Estaca’ i ‘La Gallineta ha dit que no, visca la revolució’ com a banda sonora de la protesta que, per tercer dia consecutiu, ha incendiat aquest barri barceloní arran del desallotjament de Can Vies decretat pel govern de Xavier Trias. Durant la protesta, un veí feia sonar les cançons des d’un balcó prop de les Cotxeres.
Aquesta escena s’ha viscut aquest dimecres a Sants, i reflecteix que Can Vies ja no és només Can Vies. És un símbol de quelcom més, d’un descontentament més profund, i ha desfermat una onada de solidaritat que aquest dimecres s’ha estès des de Sants arreu de Barcelona i a d’altres ciutats on s’han convocat manifestacions multitudinàries. Moltes d’aquestes han confluït a la plaça de Sants, on s’han aplegat 7.000 persones que han marxat fins a la seu del districte fins que la policia ha carregat contra un grup que causava aldarulls a la capçalera, però també contra la resta de manifestants. Ha estat el toc d’inici d’uns enfrontaments que, una nit més, han incendiat tot el barri. I que han causat diversos ferits, entre ells una persona ferida a l’ull que assegura que ha rebut l’impacte d’un projectil llançat pels Mossos d’Esquadra. La víctima no ha perdut la visió.
Suport de barris i ciutats
Ha estat cap a les vuit del vespre que s’ha començat a aplegar gent a Plaça de Sants –mentre la policia tancava ja les parades de metro de plaça de Sants i Hostafrancs i una part de l’estació de Sants. A la mateixa hora, a diversos barris de Barcelona i a vàries ciutat de l’àrea metropolitana de Barcelona es començaven a formar les diferents columnes, que més tard arribarien al centre de Sants per unir-se a la resta de la manifestació.
Abans però, gairebé unes 3.000 persones ja omplien plaça de Sants i a dos quarts de nou del vespre començava una cassolada, que s’ha mantingut de forma intermitent mentre anaven arribant les columnes. Una de les primeres en arribar ha estat la del barri de Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, unes 50 joves de l’Assemblea de Joves del barri arribaven pel carrer Joan Güell amb una pancarta de suport a Can Vies. Poc després gairebé 300 persones procedents de l’Hospitalet, Cornellà i altres indrets del Baix Llobregat baixaven pel carrer Olzinelles i entraven a plaça de Sants entre aplaudiments i crits d’”a-anti-anticapitalista!”.
Mentrestant les diferents columnes ja es dirigien a plaça de Sants, no sense incidents. A Horta-Guinardó per exemple s’ha cremant una furgoneta de TMB. A Poble Sec i Sant Andreu –200 persones– s’han tallat tres carrils de Gran Via i la Meridiana respectivament, tombant alguns contenidors. Per la seva banda també es formaven columnes a Les Corts, Gràcia –on s’hi han aplegat entre 1.500 i 2.000 persones i s’ha llançat pintura a la seu del districte– Eixample, Nou Barris, Ciutat Vella, Clot, Sant Antoni, el Raval i Poblenou, on també s’ha llançat pintura a la seu del districte.
Un cop han arribat totes les columnes, s’han aplegat a plaça de Sants unes 7.000 persones. A dos quarts de deu ha arrencat la manifestació, que sota la pluja s’ha dirigit pel carrer de Sants cap a la seu del districte. Abans d’arribar, les manifestants han topat contra un fort dispositiu policial que no els ha permès avançar més. Els Mossos han avisat per megàfon que la manifestació no estava autoritzada per avançar en direcció al districte. Pocs minuts després, passades les deu de la nit, la policia ha avisat que procediria a dissoldre la manifestació.
Diverses persones han bolcat alguns contenidors. Llavors, després de fer servir els canons de so i llançar dos pots de fum, la policia ha iniciat la càrrega no només contra els qui estaven causant els aldarulls a la capçalera de la marxa, sinó contra totes les ciutadanes que hi participaven. La manifestació es donava per desconvocada i començaven les càrregues i els enfrontaments entre manifestants i policies.
28 persones detingudes en els enfrontaments
La Directa ha pogut confirmar que una persona ha patit l’impacte a l’ull d’un projectil esfèric. El projectil ha estat disparat pels Mossos d’Esquadra prop de la plaça Osca, segons assegura la víctima. Durant la matinada estava rebent atenció hospitalària. El manifestant, però, no ha perdut l’ull perquè les lesions que ha patit no li afecten el globus ocular. Aquest ha estat possiblement l’incident més greu de les corredisses que s’han produït a Sants i Badal fins a la una de la matinada, i que han acabat amb almenys de 28 persones detingudes, que se sumen a les dues de dilluns i les sis de dimarts.
S’han viscut escenes com les de dimarts, amb aldarulls sorgint a diversos punts del barri, com la plaça d’Osca o el carrer Olzinelles. Aquest dimecres, però, l’entorn de Can Vies ha romàs en calma. Cap a les onze de la nit, els disturbis s’han concentrat prop de les Cotxeres de Sants, on s’han incendiat diversos contenidors. Un d’ells amenaçava amb calar foc a la palmera adjacent, i les manifestants han evitat el perill remullant la planta. Una estona després l’epicentre de les corredisses s’ha traslladat a Badal, on s’han pogut veure policies de paisà en motos sense matrícula detenint persones a la rambla de Brasil.
Veïnes increpen la policia
Durant les protestes s’han repetit les escenes de dimarts de veïnes increpant la policia i fent picar cassoles en solidaritat amb les manifestants des dels balcons. Un d’aquests veïns ha arribat a increpar inclús els bombers quan han acudit a apagar uns contenidors passades les dotze de la nit al carrer de Sants. Diverses desenes d’encaputxats, des de la vorera, han respost aplaudint i cridant ‘Visca els bombers!’, fins que una furgoneta d’antidisturbis ha aparegut i els agents han foragitat els solidaris amb els bombers.
A Sants les corredisses han acabat passada la mitjanit, al tram del carrer de Sants que queda immediatament al nord de la plaça homònima, amb Jordi Arasa i altres agents d’ARRO atonyinant un veí que sortia del seu portal. Arasa li ha etzibat almenys tres cops de porra, i tot seguit s’ha passejat desafiant enmig del carrer. Poc després, un cop disparades les darreres salves per dispersar els últims concentrats, la policia s’ha retirat.
Per altra banda, aquesta nit ha estat atacada la seu de CDC a Terrassa, segons ha assegurat en una piulada a Twitter que després ha esborrat, el secretari d’organització del partit i regidor de la formació en aquella ciutat, Josep Rull. “Han trencat el vidre de l’aparador amb un contenidor cremant”, ha piulat Rull.
