Feminism is alive and well, my friends. And I’ve got 95 photos from across the planet to prove it.

(Click on the photos to find the source articles about the protests and movements pictured!)

Including an image of a protest or images from a specific region doesn’t indicate any sort of endorsement of that region or movement’s politics — this is just about showcasing that the fight for women’s rights and gender equality is raging on around the world.

Love all those pics. This is undisputable proof that women all over the world are united over similar issues.

As a side note; yes, Turkey is on two continents. The first picture is from a demonstration in which I actually participated. And the second one is from a get together with CYDD, an NGO that aims to provide education for underprivilaged girls. Both pictures were actually taken in the European part of the country, despite the fact that 85% of our country is situated in Asia.

so good to see women around the world fighting for their rights!

(On a sidenote: Russia is also on two continents, geographically the Ural Mountains are seen as the border.)

I really loved this – thank you for posting. And thanks s well to Creatrix above for the South East Asia stuff, that Cambodia especially photo is so great.

My one quibble is the FEMEN one from Ukraine. I know they’re feminists, but… it’s also a pic of a woman who’s young, thin, white, tanned, blond, fairly heavily made up and naked but for red undies and platform peeptoes, and whose body is being used as a canvas for an unrelated political message. For me it undermined the effect of all the rest of this a little. On the other hand, I know nothing’s ever perfect, and many people would disagree with me on this.

And even with that – one of my favourite things I’ve seen in ages. Made me really grateful for my amazing sisters all around the world.

I love a lot of these photos, and agree with those calling for the photos of the female Kurdish soldiers fighting ISIS. Some of these are very old, though, and more than a little off-putting. Winnie Mandela’s photo is from 1997, and she’s been widely discredited for personal involvement in cases of kidnap, torture and murder of men, women and children in South Africa.

(I’ve commented in a reply above but just in case you guys haven’t seen it.) That picture with signs in Spanish is not from Brazil. In fact, most Brazilians get rather offended when people assume we speak Spanish (me included). I clicked the post very excited to see what you got for my country (happy to see Marcha das Vadias included!) but this was mostly very disappointing.

These are not “rebel girls”; these are Rebel Women. I would caution you not to diminish their causes by calling them girls in the title. The rebel girl has grown up. Thank you for compiling such a powerful Montage of photos.
