Femicide in Turkey 346 women murdered in 2015

 by KurdisCat    Umut Foundation has published figures for 2015 relating to violence against women in the Republic of Turkey, which recorded a significant increase compared to the previous year. Turkish-Women-Rights-Protest-678x381The Foundation was set up in 1994 to develop humanism and non-violence in Turkish society. 346 women were murdered in Turkey in the first 10 months of 2015.

A total of 46 women were murdered by their husbands or ex-friends who later committed suicide.

Istanbul leads the list of femicides committed in the first ten months of 2015; it was  followed by Izmir, Ankara, Adana, Kocaeli, Mersin, Gaziantep and Diyarbakir (Amed in the Kurdish language) which has also witnessed many “suspected suicides” of women in recent years.

The increase in the rate of protection orders granted to women in Turkay reveals growing femicide:  there were 38,000 in 2010, 58.000 in 2011, 176.000 in 2013 and 188.000 in 2014.

Feminicidi a Turquia: 346 dones assassinades el 2015

La Fundació Umut ha publicat les xifres de 2015 relatives a la violència contra les dones a la República de Turquia, que van registrar un augment notable en comparació amb l’any anterior. La Fundació va ser fundada l’any 1.994 per desenvolupar l’humanisme i la no violència entre la societat turca.346 dones han estat assassinades a Turquia en els primers 10 mesos d’aquest any. Un total de 46 dones van ser assassinades pels seus ex marits o amics que més tard van suïcidar-se. Istanbul lidera la llista de feminicidis comesos en els primers deu mesos de 2015; és seguida per  Esmirna, Ankara, Adana, Kocaeli, Mersin, Gaziantep i Diyarbakir (Amed en llengua kurda).
