“The most predictable aspect of Trump is unpredictability. I think it’s dangerous, very dangerous,” says Noam Chomsky.
Noam Chomsky Drops Truth Bomb on Trump’s Election
“They’re making a bad mistake,” Chomsky said in an interview with Al Jazeera’s Mehdi Hasan.
..great video, great man..Noam will be 88 on Dec 7th and can’t be with us much longer.. his voice a little shaky but his mind is still spot on, outliving even the ‘eternal’ Fidel.. salud!.. compañero de toda la vida!
While Chomsky initially backed Bernie Sanders in the primaries, he encouraged his supporters to back Clinton once she received the nomination.
“There are two issues. One is kind of a moral issue,” Chomsky told Hasan. “Do you vote against the greater evil if you don’t happen to like the other candidate? The answer to that is yes, if you have any moral understanding, if you want to keep the greater evil out.”
“How did Trump and Clinton compare? I think they’re very different. I didn’t like Clinton at all, but her positions are much better than Trump’s on every issue I can think of,” he admitted.
Chomsky also rebuked leftists’ claims that a Trump presidency could “shake up the system” and therefore be positive.
“It was the same point people like [Slavoj Žižek] said about Hitler,” he said about the left-wing philosopher who endorsed Trump.”He’ll shake up the system in bad ways.”
“If Clinton had won – she had some progressive programs,” he continued. “The left could have been organized to keeping her feet to the fire and pushing them through. What it will be doing now is protecting rights that have already been achieved from being destroyed. That’s completely regressive.”
