Now is the best moment to resist the slide into Fascism and Genocide in Turkey. President Erdogan is already a ‘de facto’ dictator, already showing symptoms of megalomania. Buoyed by a far right populist party, a racist anti Kurdish blitz and the biggest purge of suspected opposition since Josef Stalin, Erdogan will hold a referendum on April 16th to grant him total power. Who dares to vote against him? After that we will have a militant Fascist State in Europe. Erdogan will have ”legitimacy” to bring back the death penalty for those suspected of insulting him, and embark on a serious genocide of the millions of progressive left and Kurdish youth, etc..
154th journalist imprisoned in Turkey by Erdogan
Asli Ceren Aslan, editor of the newspaper Özgür Gelecek (Free Future) was arrested on 9 February in the province of Urfa province, Kurdish southeast of Turkey. She was “officially” arrested in Urfa, near the border with Syria while following the events in Syria and Rojava Kurdistan.
The racist dictator, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is trying every means to blackmail and bribe the US into creating the Trump requested ”safe zone” in Syria by destroying the only progressive multi ethnic, multi religion, non sexist area in the whole of the Middle East, .. Rojava.
Blackmail.. by threats to leave Nato, to join the Russia/Iran/China axis, to expose the US creation and financing of ISIS.. etc, and Bribery.. by promising to conclude the huge new arms purchases, by perhaps blocking the Russian South Stream gas pipeline, etc.
The Plan is to effectively annexe the north of Syria as a ‘safe zone’ run by his own paid jihadi proxies, the FSA. Russia seems now to reluctantly go along with this, and excludes the SDF and Kurds from all negotiations.
Last Thursday’s “Day Without Immigrants” work stoppages, which closed hundreds of restaurants, grocery stores, garages, retail shops, and other businesses, offered a taste of the capacity for militant action wielded by immigrant America.
Led in many cities by Latino activists calling for a “huelga general,” (General Strike) the February 16 coast-to-coast walkouts augur well for an even larger set of strikes and demonstrations, including a March 8 “Day Without a Woman” and quite possibly a May Day general strike, already endorsed by one of the Service Employees International Union’s biggest and most active California locals….
IWW strikes Victory in the Lawrence, MA, textile strike in 1912 secured the organization’s reputation for organizing immigrant … The Labor World 09-16-1906 ….. This has been the first major win in Prince Rupert for theI.W.W., Industrial Worker, 10-27-1909.
…The energy and upheaval unleashed by the Trump administration’s assault on Muslims, Latinos, and other immigrants, documented or not, has been directed toward a restoration of their rights and dignity, toward the family reunions and free passage into our country that have been happily broadcast from airports all across the country—and rightly so. We are appalled by today’s forced evacuations of indigenous people at the Camp at Standing Rock, they are a violent and unnecessary infringement on the constitutional right of water protectors to peacefully protest and exercise their freedom of speech. It hinders the camp clean up process and creates confusion and chaos that puts the Missouri River at risk of pollution from construction and camping debris.
Today’s expulsion is a continuation of a centuries old practice, where the U.S. Government forcefully removes Indigenous people from our lands and territories.
We urge supporters of the water protectors to continue to resist this travesty by organizing mass mobilizations, distributed actions, speaking out against the violations of the Treaty rights of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and the Seven Council Fires of the Great Sioux Nation, and continuing to source up the capacity for litigation and grassroots organizing against the Dakota Access pipeline.
Our hearts are not defeated. The closing of the camp is not the end of a movement or fight, it is a new beginning.
They cannot extinguish the fire that Standing Rock started. It burns within each of us. We will rise, we will resist, and we will thrive.
We are sending loving thoughts to the water protectors along the banks of the Cannonball River, today. May everyone be as safe as can be. #noDAPL
There are already 800 more pro-Kurdish, feminist and left-wing civilians detained in Turkey in just 48 hours.
Meanwhile theTurkish state is receiving billions from European taxpayers in blackmail money to not to send refugees North.
And both the USA and Russia are wooing the dictator Erdogan as a strategic partner and customer in their insane capitalist expansion, To the extent that both give permission to invade Syria and to bomb and shell SDF and YPG/YPJ areas practising non ethnic, non religious and anti sexist direct democracy.. to replace them with factions of whatever crazed jihadi drug addicts they can find, as long as they are pro-Turkey.

Sara Kaya was detained by police of Erdogan last January. The democratic mayoress of the devastated border town is accused of “wanting to break the unity and integrity of the Turkish state.”
She was decreed jail without bail on 27 January. She was detained in prison of Mardin E-type but now has been transferred to solitary confinement in a high security prison of the type E, Wan.Children shelter from the indiscriminate police and army attacks on Nusaybin
No one knows why. E-type prisons are a high security level but below the dreaded F-type prisons where torture is practiced regularly.
Sara Kaya is one of dozens of Turkish mayors and Deputies arbitrarily imprisoned without trial in Turkey
It could be the biggest Strike in the US for generations and spread through Mexico, Latin America and even to Europe.
Millions of women came out worldwide after Trump’s neo-fascist inauguration. In recent days hundreds of thousands have taken to the streets against the deportation of their neighbours. Tens of thousands of Latinos have struck, 70 cities have seen demos against Standing Rock and fossil fuels…..
Now is the time! We must strike while the issues are hot.. Before the new nazis and thought police make resistance impossible
Istanbul.. 191 Journalists jailed,..tens of thousands fired and imprisoned without trial .. Iraq and Syria invaded.. 2000 prosecuted for insulting the ‘de facto’ insane dictator Erdogan... and the British PM comes visiting, cap in hand, to sell him bombs and drink a nice cup of tea... (and don’t mention the Kurdish genocide!)
By Turkish Minute....Turkey’s press freedom woes are worse than you think, says a report published on Thursday by new advocacy group the Stockholm Center for Freedom (SCF), according to which 191 journalists are in jail, 92 are wanted and 839 have been charged.
SCF has documented the individual cases of 191 journalists who are either convicted and serving time in prison or jailed in pre-trial detention.
But why focus on this particular day, of all days? And why would it be worth driving across the country to a city crowded with reactionaries and police? Here are ten reasons why we think everyone needs to pull out the stops on January 20.
What is at stake here is not a single day of protest, but the paradigm of what it will mean to resist Trump. Right now, people around the US are outraged and terrified at the prospect of being governed by a megalomaniacal buffoon. This is an opportunity to expand the networks of people who are prepared to stand up to the government, but it won’t last long.
Organised by Unity of Democratic Forces – Meet at BBC for rally and March to Downing Street 15th January at 2pm.

The wave of repression unleashed by the Turkish state against the left and the Kurdish freedom movement that has seen tens of thousands fired from their jobs and thousands jailed, including many HDP MPs,has also hit the anarchist movement there. We heard last night that Hüseyin Civan has been sentenced to 15 months for editing the anarchist paper Meydan Gazetesi.
They have reported the sentencing as below;
Turkey: Editor of Meydan Gazetesi anarchist newspaper Hüseyin Civan sentenced to 1 year, 3 months imprisonment
“An investigation was started by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s office about our newspaper related to articles “Both Arrival and Departure of State is From Fear”, “Banned Until Further Order”, and “Recreating Life” in issue 30 of our newspaper published on December 2015 with the caption “Banning Everything”. The lawsuit following the investigation ended after almost a year of trials. Continue reading “Editor of anarchist paper in Turkey jailed for 15 months”
We were right about the direction things are heading, but wrong about the time frame. We thought Clinton would win the election, and would then be discredited by new scandals and the challenges of preserving an increasingly unpopular status quo, producing a reactionary surge like the one that recently toppled Dilma in Brazil.
Instead, the scandal broke before the election, with the announcement of further FBI inquiries into emails associated with Clinton. And, as with the Brexit vote, everyone underestimated just how desperate and reactionary the general public has become—at least the ones who still identify with the ruling order enough to vote at all. It’s later than you think.
It’s significant that the news event that rescued Trump’s presidential bid was essentially an intervention by the FBI. This tells us a lot about the era we are entering: it is the security apparatus of the state that will be calling the shots, not the aspects of government that purport to improve the lives of citizens.
Capitalism, long stabilized in the so-called First World by the compromises that produced the middle class, will henceforth be imposed by force. The surplus of the 20th century has run out; the velvet glove is coming off the iron fist. Sure, demagogues like Trump and Sanders will continue to promise us the moon every four years or so, but it won’t be peace treaties that will preserve the prevailing order—it will be police.
