How the Revolution could Happen

by The Free 03/08/17     Late capitalism is like an express train screeching down a hill towards a cliff edge.. and the only way to stay on the rails, as is unanimously agreed, is BY ACCELERATING the ‘growth rate’..

So how will the revolution happen? The classic answer is that the workers will unite, strike, takeover, banish the insane 1% and put the world to rights.

Not likely to happen any time soon. For one thing we are divided and marginalised and being replaced by precarious labour and  willing anti-union robots.

The Nation States each demand a monopoly of violence and coercion.  They need to be abolished, ASAP, but they have 24.7 million bored troops, armed to the teeth and just longing for us to attack.

Capitalism needs to crash to the ground in smithereens, but most of us are dependent on its crumbs to survive and feed our kids.

And even if socialism or communism were to triumph we have generations of proof that top down State Control just Doesn’t Work.

So how will it happen? Or is it just wishful thinking?

First of all, we are not naturally greedy, selfish, cruel, self centered, bastards. Those are the qualities demanded of us by a perverse system.

MAPPING POST-CAPITALIST PARADIGM AND MAIN THINKERS

Mapping the emerging Post-Capitalist paradigm and its main thinkers

“We do not live in an era of change, but in a change of eras” is the way Jan Rotmans from the University Rotterdam describes the structural changes impacting our societies. This is also the phrase Michel Bauwens chose to open his latest book yet to be published in English which title is likely to be close to “Towards a post-capitalist society with the Peer-to-Peer”.

For thinkers like Jan Rotmans and Michel Bauwens this change of eras is akin to the Industrial Revolution in the second half of the 19th century, and characterized by transitions in various fields. In a nutshell, our societies face 3 major tipping points:

‘Robin Hood’ fugitive to Kick-start Post Capitalism?

Last week saw two major  internet stories from ‘Robin Hood’ (aka, Enric Duran) and his plans to short circuit Capitalism.
fair coop‘Robin’ is a Catalan activist who took out bank loans of 500,000 euros and gave the cash to occupiers, anarchists and Coops. Then he helped found the fast growing CIC (Integral Coop), a group of leaderless assembly-run, coops with their own ‘anti-money’, the ECU, which aims to evade the inbuilt exploitative control of the world money system.
